Sweet Cake Disappointment

Yesterday was my 16th wedding anniversary with my wife, Jinmei. I planned to buy a cake to celebrate the occasion. In order to pick out a good cake, I took three hours off work early to go shopping. I went to a bakery that a colleague had recommended. When I asked the staff there about some of the cakes, he recommended several options. However, when I saw how creamy they looked, I was a bit worried they would taste too rich. So I asked the staff if cakes that looked so creamy would taste overly sweet. The staff assured me that their cream was special and would not make the cakes taste cloying. But after I brought the cake home, my family still found it a bit too sweet and rich when they ate it. It was a shame it didn't meet our expectations.
